Welcome to Temple Golf and Country Club

Golf Course

Temple is one of the finest 9 hole golf courses in Northern Ireland and is a fine challenge for novice and experienced golfers alike.
Set among the rolling Drumlins of County Down with astounding views of the Mourne Mountains and Slieve Croob, it is a truly beautiful setting to play the beautiful game.
The course is laid out as shown above and starts with a testing par 3 of 160 yards which plays up hill much longer than its measured distance.
The second is a blind tee shot which can find water if too long but if placed correctly will leave a short approach and a birdie opportunity.
The third hole plays to an elevated green directly into the prevailing wind with OOB all the way down the left and par is a good score.
The fourth is arguably the best hole on the course. OOB down the left with a dog leg left to the green. Too far left off the tee will block out the approach to the green which is crowned and has a severe drop from back to front.
The fifth hole is relatively straightforward except for the approach to green and the green itself. It is raised on a plateau and it is devilishly hard to get the ball close to the flag. The green has very difficult slopes and par is a good score.
The sixth is almost drivable for longer hitters in summertime , and its protection lies in a green which is notoriously difficult to read.
The seventh is the longest hole on the course at 400yards, but it usually plays a lot longest than this. A good drive uphill must be placed between the trees or getting up will be out of the question. The green is 2 tiered with a wicked slope from front to back.
Hole eight is relatively short, but the green is once again elevated and protected by bunkers this is a good birdie opportunity.
Finally the ninth calls for a decision, 200 yards to carry the water do you lay up or go for it, as they say the choice is yours.
